Dobrinj is administrative center of a municipality with the same name on island Krk. Krk is the biggest Croatian island connected with the mainland by a bridge. That’s what makes Krk so close to the rest of Croatia, and a small airport on the island makes it close to the rest of the world. The island has rich and turbulent history what marked lives of its inhabitants and made Krk attractive tourist destination. The municipality Dobrinj counts even 21 settlements on the north west side of the island, with total number of around 2000 inhabitants with their permanent address there. Dobrinj doesn’t have developed tourist offer as the rest of the island Krk, but it is 20 something minutes away from any other tourist destination on the island, such as Baška, Krk, Punat, Malinska... Municipality with its hills, vales, coves and bays is still undiscovered jewel of Kvarner bay. The small town Dobrinj placed on top of a hill, 200 meters above sea level, is picturesque and peculiar place. Stiff road degrading from the hill to a narrow dale leads to the town square, making you wonder how people managed to box up all of those pretty stone houses into such small gap of the Earth. Holiday accommodation consists of private apartments and rooms; the most wanted are private apartments on the coast in places like Šilo, Čižići, Soline i Klimno, but more and more claimed are stone houses settled in inland, in Dobrinj and its surroundings, decorated in traditional Dalmatian manner. Like the rest of the island, Dobrinj has restaurants with nurtured traditional cuisine, with region specialties like ‘žvacet’, ‘šurlice’ and other. Traditional ‘žlahtina’, famous authentic white vine has the lightest and fruitiest aroma if it is cooled on 10°C.
