Welcome to
Dugopolje, the foyer of Mosor, the mountain above the city of Split! Dugopolje (Long Field in Croatian) is named after its geographical feature, a long field that leads north at the foot of Mosor mountain. The settlement extends along the field, the place where the people of Dugopolje live, who have cultivated that field and extracted even the smallest good from the earth's crust for millennia. Today, Dugopolje is one of the largest business zones in Croatia. It is also the settlement and the municipality that includes Dugopolje, Koprivno, Kotlenice, and Lisku. Dugopolje itself has over 3000 inhabitants. The name of the place was first recorded in 1283, but the settlement was inhabited in the Stone Age, as evidenced by numerous remains. Dugopolje is only 30 km away from Split and offers the peace and charm of Dalmatian inland. Although the town's population is industry oriented, there are also
apartments, rooms and holiday houses in Dugopolje, which offer an exquisite luxury of peace near the crowded coast in the summer months. The beauty of nature is pervasive, and the charms of the gourmet tradition are tempting. Dugopolje is a place for excursions and destination for all those who want freshness of the mountains offering its narrow and quiet paths for exploration. Dugopolje is also a place with a long sporting tradition - Ivano Balić, one of the world's most famous handball players, comes from here, just like Severina - the popular Croatian pop singer.
