Konavle is small place situated on the most southern part of Croatia and it borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Main city of municipal Konavle is Cavtat (lat. Epidaurum). It was named by Latin word “canalis” which means canal because there are water canals that supply Cavtat with water. According to population census in 2001st, Konavle had 8250 inhabitants. Most important branches are farming and tourism. Near Konavle you can find airport Čilipi, but also you can find many hotels. This is place with rich history because it was inhabited in 5th and 6th century. In 15th century, it fell under control of Bosnian Feudals. If you want to see more things about Konavle and its region, you should not miss to visit County Museum of Konavle. Because of Bosnians who were building them, you can see small tomb called “stećak”. For conclusion, Konavle is best place for people who want to see local customs and beautiful nature with numerous forests, vineyards and olive fields.
