Korenica history dates back to the Middle ages when it was funded as a defensive village at the foot of the old Croatian fort Mrsinj , which is known as the center of Krbavska diocese used to be. As a worthy fortress, Korenica was the stronghold of few great battles that were fought in this place, especially during the Turkish conquest. That way, one Croatian monarch, right on this site, defeated Ottoman army, back in 1500.

Although, the name Korenica has been changing twice in the past, it has always remained authentic in all that it distinguished, and this is - great accommodation capacity, kindly hosts and a rich gastronomic offer, which is one of the main advantages in the tourist offer of this place. Due to the proximity of the National Park Plitvice lakes, tourism in Korenica began to develop long time ago.
