Apartments in Ugljan Preko

Since it is just a few nautical miles away from Zadar, divided from it by Zadar’s canal, island Ugljan was favorite vacation destination from ancient history. Preko is an administrative and traffic center of the island; only it’s name points on it’s geographical position right opposite to Zadar. Preko has ferry port with good connections to the mainland.
The exterior of Preko is attractive and picturesque, decorated by old typical Dalmatian architecture formations and vacation houses of Zadar’s noble families built centuries ago. On the East side of the town, there is Romanic church of St. John from 11. century. If you decide to take 3 kilometers long road to St. Mihovil, on the hill 265 meters above the sea level, you’ll find an old fortress there from  13. century, with astonishing view on about 80 islands of Zadar’s archipelago and a nearby Croatian National park Kornati. But there is a small island that stand out in that panorama; an islet settled right in front of Preko covered with tick vegetation, hiding beneath it’s green branches a Franciscan monastery from 15. century. Besides sightseeing, this isled, called Galevac or Školjić, is the favorite place for bathing and swimming, as well as nearby sandy beach Jaz, which carries a blue flag, symbol of purity and maintenance.
