Although Viganj is just a little spot on a map in southwest part of Pelješac peninsula, it is well know as a paradise of wind and waves lovers. There are no many apartments, rooms or vacation houses here, but when the wind starts to blow, sometimes even early in the morning, a hundreds of sails raise and flutter along the Pelješac canal like restless butterflies on a warm spring morning. Viganj is not a favorite destination for surfers only in Croatia but also throughout Europe. Not only professionals like to lodge in Viganj, but amateurs also. Therefore, one can rent any kind of equipment for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Croatian championship takes palce here every year and it was the host for Worlds cup in 1898 and european in 1990. Those who are reluctant to ride the waves, can spend unforgettable moments on the Peljesac hot sandy beaches or hiking the nearby St. Ilija. Every day is a day of great waves here.
