Oprtalj is a municipality in the north of the Istrian peninsula that includes 16 settlements. Oprtalj is located inland, not far from the border with Slovenia, and the most of the settlements are spread out on the tops of green hills. apartments, family farms. Oprtalj itself is located on a hill, which can be reached by a short drive from the direction of Motovun, at the end of a 10-kilometre road. It is located slightly more than 200 kilometres from Zagreb. Once surrounded by strong ramparts, today it preserves the remains of the entrance to the city and a Venetian loggia with a lapidary, next to which a plateau at the remains of the fort overlook the distant blue sea.
Oprtalj is considered by many to be the most beautiful town in Istria, a jewel surrounded by forests and vineyards, a fairy tale of the peninsula that can be tasted by the palate and felt by all the senses.
