Sea Organ in Zadar

The song of the waves is the most beautiful sound, which a human ear has ever heard. The soothing sound of the Sea Organ in Zadar which can be heard on the shore is the song of the waves and the sea, never forgot to. The Sea Organ is an original architectural mercenary which tames the energy of the sea, and turns it into music. The unique combination of the sea and the stone, is equal to the combination of the professions of the co-authors of this Zadar attractions; the architect Nikola Basic, Ivica Stamac, the author of the organ sound, Vladimir Androcec, the author of hydraulic and organ studio Heferer, who made the calculations for Sea Organ pipes. The western part of the shore of the peninsula was built as the waterfalls of 75 meters in length in the first phase of implementation. Than tubes were embedded in the shore, which emit sounds in contact with the sea. Therefore precise calculations have been made with a choice of tones and chords on the model of the traditional folk songs of Dalmatia. The Sea Organ was officially opened in April 2005, and already in May of the following year won the European Prize for Urban Public Space, in competition with 207 projects from 31 countries (they shared the prize with the Dutch for the project in Zaanstad). There is another interesting architectural work in the immediate vicinity of Sea Organ, another work of architect Basic – Salute to the Sun.
