Zadar story

My wife and I are both high school history teachers. We have always liked holidays which would give us a possibility to learn something interesting about a country which we select for our holiday. We believe that a holiday is a perfect time to enjoy your hobbies; in our case this was exploring history through interesting facts and visiting ancient buildings (archaeology is our another passion).

We have never had problems searching for a destination because we both occasionally work as tourist guides (we were lucky enough to combine our love for traveling and knowledge of history). Two years ago my wife guided a group of tourists to Croatia, a country she had heard so much about, but never had a chance to visit. These tourists decided for a cruise around the Mediterranean sea, which was perfect for my wife because she had a chance to visit a lot of different towns and to get to know a lot of different cultures. On their journey, they have visited three Croatian towns: Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. My wife told me that these towns were gorgeous and though Dubrovnik looked so beautiful to her, Zadar left a special mark in her heart. She assured me that spendind our holiday in Zadar was a great thing to do.

We are teachers, which means that we don't have a lot of money. Because of that, we had to look for some cheap accommodation in Zadar. We found that rooms in Zadar are quite a cheap type of accommodation. We also looked for some apartments in Zadar and found a great one near the center of the city. This was all we needed to spend a great holiday in Zadar.

My wife was my tour guide during our holiday. She showed me some buildings which were the most impressive and most beautiful I have ever seen. Most of our holiday consisted of sightseeing. There are a lot of very old churches and even a cathedral. We have even decided to go to a nearby town called Nin, which has a lot to offer to people like us. Near Nin there are some smaller salt flats, so we managed to see how people get salt from salt water. Beside  Nin, we went to visit some islands near Zadar because there were also beautiful buildings and the scenery is amazing.

We liked Zadar so much that for a day we were looking for apartments in Zadar because we actually thought about buying one. This way we could offer other tourists a cheap accommodation in Zadar and we wouldn't have to look for rooms in Zadar anymore. We soon realized that this was not a really good idea, but it sounded so right for some time.
