Ottoman towers Gornji Tucepi

Modern and comfortable apartments, rooms and vacation houses, are witnessing the way of living of the inhabitants of Tucepi and area today, whilst Ottoman towers are the witnesses of the way they used to live in the past. There are three towers in Gornji Tucepi. Uncertain times are to blame for the legacy which is a tourist attraction today, despite the poor condition of it now. In Srida sela (center of the village) there is Lalic tower, also best preserved. It is a part of the complex of commercial and residential buildings which are the best example of traditional architecture. Traveling through the dangerous past is continuing to Buselic tower which is on the road to the village Knjeza-ostojica. It was famous of its leader Grega Buselic, the hero from 17th century. It was built on a high rock and it has preserved square ground floor today. Third tower is the highest in the mountain on a hardly accessible cliff. The most unbelievable fact about it is that it used to shelter a village above it whose remains are noticeable even now. The Turks ruled this region from the 15th to the 17th century, later they inherited by Venice, thus towers maintained its defensive function for centuries. If you want to visit these sites, make sure you wear quality footwear, potable water and sunscreen. Ashonishing view from Biokovo to Makarska Riviera is an additional motivation to visit Gornji Tucepi and Turkish towers.
