The church Groznjan was mentioned for the first time in the early 14th century. It was originally dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and later to St. Vito, Modesto and Crescentia. It is a church with a nave and apse, rebuilt in Baroque style in the 18th century. It contains the organ of Girardi from the 19th century, and the main altar contains four other altars dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Mercy, to the Heart of Jesus, St. Blaz, San Sebastian, San Rocco, and San Valentino, San Antonio of Padua, San Antonio Abbot and the archangel Michael. The protectors of Groznjan, San Vito, Modesto, and Crescentia are celebrated on June 15. On that date you can participate in the great procession through the city, and the Mass, which are the most solemn events of the village, celebrating the Day of Groznjan as well. Do not miss to book an apartment, room or holiday house in that time of year to witness the century-old tradition of local people.
