The summer heat can easily arouse a desire to delve beneath the surface of the earth in search of primordial shade and refreshment. Renting an apartment with air conditioning is only a partial solution, because you want to explore the destination and visit all the natural and cultural attractions in Porec. And if you have found an accommodation in Porec, you're lucky. Just 5 kilometers from it, there is a beautiful cave, the only on the Istrian peninsula, which is maintained and open for visitors. Baredine cave is the protected morphological monument, where the nature messed with limestone and water, over the centuries, forming sculptures, such ones which reminiscent of the famous statues and buildings by its appearance. The cave owes its name to a local dialect where the term baredine means disorganized land. But Baredine cave is organized in a magical way, according to the mystical laws of nature. It has memories printed in stalagmites and stalactites through its 300 meters of runway length, falling up to 60 meters in some parts. Leave yourself to a professional guidance, and you'll meet the endemic human fish, living only in the caves of Dinars. You`ll be guided til the cave 4 meters wide, which descends to the underground lake at a depth of 60 meters. You can enter the cave every half an hour, so you there is no need for a long waiting in the sun to reach a comfortable temperature of 14 degrees. Do not forget to bring at least a sweater. The ticket price is 60 kunas per adult and 40 kunas for children from 6 to12 years. The tour lasts for 40 minutes, and in the meantime, you can have fun in a bar, see the exhibition of historic tractors, or visit the center of cave climbing with themed photographs. There is also a large parking lot, but the cave can be reached even by a bicycle - through the track Parenzana from Porec to Nova Vas.
