Biserujka cave Krk

When you reach the bridge to Krk and take a modern road to the island's interior, you will hardly miss the panel with the inscription cave Biserujka. You may ask yourself how come there is a cave on the island, but if you decide to visit this short and shallow cave, you will never regret it. It is situated above the bay Slivanjska, which some call Slivanjska pit. According to the island's legend, the cave was accidentally discovered by local pirates who hid their treasure in it. You will easily find it if you turn off the road following the signs. Approaching the cave will delight you itself because it is located only a few meters above sea level in its immediate vicinity. The cave is about 110 meters long, and after you enter a beautifully landscaped path, you will come across numerous stalactites and stalagmites in yellow and reddish tones generated by mixing minerals with limestone. If you visit it on the hottest day, you will need a jacket inside, because the temperature does not exceed 15 Celsius degrees. The most curious among you could find an endemic shrimp in this small cave, very tiny and difficult to notice, but also snails, centipedes, and bats. One can say that for the price of a cheap ticket, holidays on the island can prove to be more interesting, and a rainy or a too hot summer day can be turned into an unforgettable memory. If you have found accommodation in Dobrinj, which is only 10 kilometers away from Biserujka, take this chance for an excursion into cooler temperatures.
