The town of Omis is situated on the mouth of the Cetina river. The north side is surrounded by steep rocky cliffs, which stretch up to 250 m above the town, whose south side is a wide seaway openning to nearby islands and into the world. Numerous historical and cultural monuments are the witnesses of the rich history of the town from antique to this day. In the middle ages, Omiš was the pirate town. Today, it is the economic and cultural centre of the wider region.
